1950's BLACK ORGANZA sheath dress 50's S
This seems like a simple midcentury vintage sheath dress, but the fabric is really special! I've been doing this for decades, and have never seen a fabric like this. I don't know the fabric content, seems like maybe cotton with silk? The top layer is a 'basketweave' texture with a lot of detail. It's semi-sheer, so the dress is back in an organza layer for opacity. Still a little sheer in the sun. Underneath, the dress is a classic sheath, but the front of the skirt has a panel attached to the waist, giving it interest, and a bit more volume. The only tag inside is shown in the last picture. Metal back zip closure, grosgrain ribbon neckline trim. Measures 37/27.25/40, no stretch. 43.5 long, has been let out to it's absolute max length. Fabulous condition, clean and ready to go!
