Prairie Farmer Poultry Marker
Vintage Prairie Farmer Poultry Marker. Used in the 1920's and 30's to keep chicken theft in check. Made of heavy brass or aluminum, number PF61036. It is about 4 inches tall. I believe it originally had a round button on the top for pushing but it is still able to be pushed down easily without it. Very interesting old collectable farm piece. When the top knob is pushed, needle-like projections come out of the bottom which would pierce the skin of the poultry to give them an identifying ink mark for identification (tattoo). This piece is old but in good working condition. The back of it says PRAIRIE FARMER POULTRY MARKER CHICAGO, USA. Antique farm tools, advertising, display, or collectibles.
