Also, you must have tailgate handle with the lock hole (example in the picture), if you don't have it you can also always purchase it inexpensively. Take the lock and your Colorado or Canyon existing ignition key to a local locksmith to make them both work together. I was able to effortless 5-10 minute install. You will have a tailgate that locks and use your existing ignition key to lock or unlock the tailgate on your vehicle, more security for your tools and stuff.
