This necklace features a genuine Muonionalusta Meteorite fragment, preserved with a transparent protective layer to guard against moisture. Dog Tag pendant size measuring about 1.5 inches long with a 25 inch Stainless Steel ball clasp chain.
Each meteorite fragment has a one-of-a-kind surface texture and markings, a testament to its fiery journey through Earth’s atmosphere. Muonionalusta is well known for showing the timeless Widmanstätten patterns of intersecting lines.
The Muonionalusta Meteorite is believed to have impacted Earth about one million years ago, making it one of the oldest known Meteorites to have struck our planet during the Quaternary Period. Despite its ancient impact, the Meteorite wasn't discovered until the early 20th century, likely due to its location in the remote northern tundra where it had been buried under glacial moraine and experienced four ice ages since its arrival.
